As we all know, film is widely used. It is mainly composed of many chemicals, and the ingredients are very complex. If you look at it under a microscope, you will find that many films have more than 13 layers of color sensing layer and developing film of different components, and different film will affect the indoor environment at any time, making the quality worse. At this time, it is particularly important to learn to save the film correctly. How to save the film correctly? Here's a brief introduction:
How to save film correctly:
1. First, understand the film characteristics
Film is really composed of many chemicals, and the ingredients are very complex, which can not be explained in simple words. If observed with a microscope, it can be found that many times the film is a color sensitive layer and the development film of different components has more than 13 layers, and the quality of different film will deteriorate with time and the indoor environment. Therefore, we must first understand the characteristics of films before we can keep them better.
2. Next, transparent acid free rubber sleeve shall be used
If you want to maintain good film image quality after a long time, you must put them in a transparent acid free plastic sleeve. Usually, the express printing shop has done this step for everyone, but it should be noted that transparent plastic covers have different quality levels. Some poor ones may shrink due to absorption of water within one or two years, while some will release toxic chemicals, which is harmful to the film. Therefore, to obtain a more comprehensive guarantee, you can buy some plastic sleeves specially for storing film films at the photography equipment store. Because they are specially designed for the needs of photography, the quality is more guaranteed.
3. Low temperature storage shall be carried out
This will prolong the life of photos and films. If you pay close attention, you will find that some professional printing shops will take out films from special freezers when selling them. If you want to keep the film and photos for a longer time, you can choose to use the freezing method (the temperature is below - 18 ℃). However, it should be noted that before freezing photos and negatives, high-quality plastic sleeves that will not deteriorate must be put in advance, and the humidity of the freezer should be adjusted to below 25%.
4. Do not touch the film surface
If you have experience in scanning film, you will know that the film performance is very easy to have dust and scratches, so you must be careful when handling the film, because too much damage will have a certain impact on the resolution and quality of the scanning film. In addition, oil stains and stains on fingers will also affect the film surface. These fingerprints will produce many stains during actual scanning and are difficult to remove, so we must avoid touching the film surface.
5. Create a good storage environment
Generally, most color negative films can be retained for more than 70 years if they are within the humidity control range, such as 10%, but can only be retained for 20 years if the humidity is raised to normal (such as 70%). However, the positive film will be much stronger, and can be kept for 220 years under 10% conditions, while the normal humidity can be kept for 50 years. Therefore, we must create a good environment and properly retain fragile negatives. Otherwise, 10 years later, we will find that our beloved photos have been lost.
