The Ceramic material is white background, dark blue design, Strong contrast, best diffuse reflection characteristics, completely eliminate reflection. Good flatness can make high-precision patterns.

Suitable Environment:
It is recommended to select a ceramic target with diffuse reflection characteristics to avoid reflection and transmission if you use front light source: annular light source, strip light source, coaxial light source, natural light, etc. These light sources are on the same side of the target and the camera with lens.

Function:

In order to correct lens distortion, determine the conversion relationship between physical dimensions and pixels, and determine the relationship between the three-dimensional geometric position of a point on the surface of a space object and its corresponding point in the image, it is necessary to establish a geometric model of camera imaging. For precision measurement, lens distortion is inevitable. Calibration is used to improve the application performance of high-precision measurement and detection to achieve satisfactory accuracy.

Most software supports the use of squares as markers. In the process of high-precision camera calibration, most of the feature points are used as reference points, and the center position is accurately extracted through graphic fitting. The shape caused by projection is eliminated through known calibration template parameters

Why a camera need calibration targets?
The camera like eyes of the robotics, surveillance, space exploration, social media, industrial automation, and the machine vision systems.
For many applications, it is essential to know the parameters of a camera to use it effectively as a visual sensor.
The process of estimating the parameters of a camera is called camera calibration.
This means we have all the information (parameters or coefficients) about the camera required to determine an accurate relationship between a 3D point in the real world and its corresponding 2D projection (pixel) in the image captured by that calibrated camera.
Typically this means recovering two kinds of parameters
Internal parameters of the camera/lens system. E.g. focal length, optical center, and radial distortion coefficients of the lens.
External parameters : This refers to the orientation (rotation and translation) of the camera with respect to some world coordinate system.
In the image below, the parameters of the lens estimated using geometric calibration were used to un-distort the image.
So here we need the camera calibration targets,high accuracy calibration targets make high accuracy calibration.
